President’s Note – July 2011
After last month’s note about how busy life gets, I have been reminded by friends and messages received that we really need to focus our energy on fewer things to do a good job at anything. Sometimes multi tasking is good, but at other times it is better to finish one project before starting another. I know in our lives we have a habit of taking a project to a point where we can live with it, but then the finishing touches never seem to get there. We move on to the next thing and get it to a certain point and before you know it there is a list of minor details a mile long. Don’t you get a sense of accomplishment and pride when something is truly finished? I do, but I know I am guilty of having many projects going at once and not finishing many of them. Before you know it time has flown by and the projects are still not done. So how do we get back on track? Take one at a time and try not to add anything to the list while doing the finishing touches on what we have started. I wish everyone luck with this endeavor, I know I need it.
We are in good shape for our car show on Sunday, July 10th. Sponsors and donations have been coming in. Bring anything you have collected to the meeting on Tuesday, July 5th at our house. We will have pizza and get things ready for the show. Don’t forget to continue to hand out flyers at any cruise nights you go to before then.
Last weekend I participated in and Art & Craft Show at the Damascus Shriner’s in Webster. We went on Friday night to set up. I didn’t realize they had a cruise night there on Friday evenings. Lots of cars and music to enjoy! As a result of discussion between the Shriner’s and the crafters, it was decided we would combine the two every Friday for the rest of the summer. So when you go to the cruise night, look for myself and friends at the craft booths. Each week will be a different mix of arts and crafts. Proceeds from the event help the kids at the Shriner’s hospitals. So come on out and have fun!
